Futureproof your transport fleet with grid-quality e-methane
Transportation is the second largest source of global GHG emissions and companies, countries and industries are under increasing pressure to reduce the environmental impact of transport as a whole. With road transportation accounting for the highest percentage of transport emissions, significant reductions can be made simply by switching to
low-carbon or carbon-neutral fuel.
Electrochaea’s innovative biomethanation technology enables grid-quality e-methane to be generated from green hydrogen and recycled CO2 as part of a Power-to-Gas (P2G) system. Not only does this drastically reduce emissions when it’s used as fuel, but it actively removes CO2 from the atmosphere, thus maximizing environmental savings and providing you with clean, reliable and renewable fuel.
Lower operating costs
As carbon taxes and levies increase, the total cost of using traditional fossil fuels is set to rise. With e-methane gas and eLNG, however, you can access cost-effective renewable fuel, reduce your carbon tax liability and maintain a comparatively low OPEX.

How it works
Electrochaea’s biomethanation technology operates as part of a Power-to-Gas system to convert green hydrogen and CO2 into grid-quality e-methane.
Green hydrogen can be generated on site via a standard electrolyzer, with renewable electricity and water being used to produce the hydrogen molecules. Alternatively, green hydrogen can be delivered directly to your site, which negates the need for on-premises electrolysis. This green hydrogen is fed into a bioreactor, along with CO2, where our proprietary methanogenic archaea synthesize e-methane gas.
Similar to compressed natural gas, e-methane gas can be used to power trucks, lorries and other forms of transport without the need for liquefaction. Alternatively, the e-methane gas produced via our biomethanation tech can be liquefied into renewable eLNG and used in compatible engines to facilitate low-carbon transportation.
